A person commits the crime of robbery when the person took property that was not his or hers and the property was taken from another person’s possession and immediate presence and the property was taken against that person’s will and the person used force or fear to take the property or to prevent the other person from resisting and when the person used force or fear to take the property, he or she intended to permanently deprive the owner of it or to remove it from the owner’s possession that the owner would be deprived of a major portion of the value or enjoyment of the property.
The person must have intended to take the property before or during the time force or fear was used.
The property taken can be of any value, however slight.
A person takes something when he or she gains possession of it and moves it some distance which may be short.
This crime is a felony.
